According to Cheryl Krause, RN, Infection Control Coordinator for Perham Health, “Now is the time to get your influenza vaccination. A yearly flu vaccine is the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. Getting a flu vaccine during 2020-2021 will be more important than ever.”

Perham Health is offering flu vaccinations at its clinics in Perham, New York Mills, and Ottertail. “To keep our patients and staff as safe as possible, this year we are asking people to call and schedule an appointment,” Krause said. “In years past, we had designated dates that we offered walk-in vaccinations. Due to the pandemic and our efforts at keeping everyone as safe as can be, we opted for scheduled appointments.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual influenza vaccinations for everyone six months and older. Vaccinations are particularly important for people who are at high risk for serious flu-related complications including children younger than five, adults 65 years of age and older, pregnant women, and people who have medical conditions including asthma, heart disease, chronic lung disease, kidney and liver disorders, and weakened immune system due to disease or medication.
