Volunteering at Perham Health

Come make a difference in the lives of our patients, residents, and their families while supporting the work of our medical staff and contributing to our healing environment.

Volunteers enrich the experience of patients, families, visitors, and employees. There are many reasons people choose to volunteer; whatever reason brings you to the Perham Health team, we’re thrilled you’re interested in pursuing your community involvement with us. You can make a difference in the lives of our patients, residents, and their families while supporting the work of our medical staff and contributing to our healing environment. There is a wide range of volunteer positions at Perham Health and at Perham Living and we do our best to accommodate your interests and talents.

We have a variety of volunteer positions available.

Greeter

As a Greeter, you’re one of the most important aspects of the Perham Health experience! Greeters welcome and assist patients, their families, and all visitors who enter our building. You’ll answer questions, provide information, and direct people to the location they need.

Responsibilities include:

Stand and greet all patients and visitors as they enter.
Stand and thank all patients/visitors for coming as they are leaving the building.
Willingly offer assistance for way-finding to various departments in the building.
Provide a wheelchair, if needed, and escort guests personally to the appropriate location.
Seek additional help from clinic or therapy staff as needed.
Monitor entrance for safety concerns and report immediately.
Monitor drive-up for congestion and educate guests on appropriate use of drive-up.
Maintain number of wheelchairs by the Main Entrance and Emergency Department doors.
Provide tours of building as time allows.
Act as an information resource for all guests.

Household Activity Volunteer

As a Household Activity volunteer, you’ll help enrich the lives of our residents at Perham Living. Spend time with residents in a friendly, supportive environment and help them stay engaged in planned activities.

Responsibilities include:

To visit and socialize with resident(s)
Assist with scheduled activities
Be able to recognize emergent situations and notify correct staff
When visiting in resident’s room: knock before entering, ask if a friendly visit is welcomed
When visiting in lounge area, approach everyone from in front not from behind in case they are startled, bend down if in wheelchair.
If they seem asleep gently touch leg or shoulder (as most residents doze from time to time, but would not like to miss a visitor)

Cycling Volunteer

Be part of the Perham Living Cycling Without Age program as volunteer that is willing to give the residents a bike ride on our electric assisted trishaws.

Responsibilities include:

Drive the trishaw
Assist staff with helping resident on and off the trishaw
To visit and socialize with resident(s)
Be able to recognize emergent situations and notify correct staff

Town Center Activity Volunteer

As a Town Center Activity volunteer, you’ll spend time with residents in a friendly, supportive environment and assist them during planned large group activities.

Responsibilities include:

To visit and socialize with resident(s)
Assist during large group activities
Be able to recognize emergent situations and notify correct staff
When visiting in resident’s room: knock before entering, ask if a friendly visit is welcomed
